Wilmar Oftana picked up where he left off, detonating for a double-double this time around as Emilio Aguinaldo College crushed San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 86-71, in the NCAA Season 101 on Sunday at the Filoil Centre.
The veteran wingman dropped 18 points and 10 rebounds together with three assists, four steals, and three blocks in 25 minutes of action to follow up his 19-point outing in their last win over Arellano University.
Jude Bagay and Deo Lucero were also pivotal in the victory that sent the Generals to an even 3-3 card, forcind a three-way tie in Group B with Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Jose Rizal University.
Bagay erupted for 17 points while Lucero churned out 13 markers, including four crucial points in the final period, while also dishing out five assists and grabbing two boards as EAC built a two-game winning streak ahead of its clash with league-leading Perpetual on Wednesday.
Back-to-back Lucero baskets carried EAC to a 69-57 lead early in the fourth before his pass led to an EJ Castillo layup as the Generals, who lost three of their first four games, established a 14-point cushion.
Oftana and Joshua Tolentino then buried a triple each that made it a 79-62 advantage with still 4:21 while Rico Postanes completed a three-point play for an 83-69 lead in the final minute.
While it may be another loss for the Stags, their third straight and fifth overall, rookie Jhuniel Dela Rama once again displayed a stellar double-double performance after dropping 20 points and 15 rebounds.
San Sebastian has a tougher schedule ahead as it will take on De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Wednesday then San Beda University on Sunday.
