I’ve stayed at infamous ‘sex hotel’ loved by swingers 75 times… Mass orgies are the norm, but I go for one reason

LYING on a sun lounger as scores of party animals strip off to enjoy the sun, sea and sex, Charles Versaggi is in paradise.

His first visit to the world’s most infamous sex hotel in 1978 was all thanks to an unusual suggestion from a travel agent, and since then, he has been back another 75 times – here he lifts the lid on what really happens at the raunchy resort.

Getting on a flight to Hedonism II, in Jamaica, after looking for somewhere to lie on the beach all day and party all night, Charles was in his element.

There, he can enjoy dungeon playrooms hosting orgies, oral sex lessons and a pool area where guests are free to roam naked and explore sexual encounters.

And he’s not the only one who loves to visit.

Millions have spent their holidays at the adult-only resort on Jamaica’s stunning West Coast since it opened in 1981, where guests are “free to be as mild or as wild as you care to be”.

When Versaggi, then in his mid-20s, first jetted off to the Negril hotspot on the short flight from Philadelphia, US, he was instantly drawn to its nude beach and pool.

Scores of party animals from all over the world would fill the 500-capacity venue, and each year, things would get raunchier.

On-site facilities include five bars, six pools, world-famous playrooms, a nude hot tub and beach area and a Kama Sutra palace where couples can “enhance their erotic journey”.

In his 47 years of visits, Versaggi has seen wild orgies out in the open and estimates that, these days, 95 per cent of the clientele are naked at all times.

He’s seen tourists tied up and hung upside down, exotic Halloween sex outfits and even a raft in the pool known for romping on.

Versaggi, now in his mid-70s, told The Sun: “I like to meet people and I like to talk with people. There are a few I have enjoyed having sex with over the years – I call them my regulars.

“I’ve seen people strung up a tree and hung upside down. There’s always at least one BDSM group that will come here.

“It’s not dangerous or anything, but they’re into slapping each other with whips.

“Some have some very creative sexual encounters. But mainly these days I’m there to lie naked on the beach all day, enjoying the weather, the food and the culture.”

Versaggi also loves the fashion, with people going out of their way to wear clothes that make it look like they’re naked.

“We’re talking about see-through gowns, elegant jockstraps with a little top harness,” he said.

“There are also theme nights where people dress up extra special.”

Naked sunbathing in sex paradise

Hedonism II, which also boasts a sex swing and regular beach orgies, attracts Brit visitors too.

It sits on Jamaica’s golden West Coast and advertises itself as an all-inclusive, adults-only and clothing-optional resort – a place where guests can be free from judgement.

It also has rooms that are regularly turned into BDSM sex dungeons.

Versaggi, who is single after his partner died around 30 years ago, says he’s never taken part in the venue’s notorious orgies but has amassed a catalogue of regular sexual partners.

He also says it’s the lure of group naked sunbathing that keeps him coming back for more.

“There are people who are exhibitionists, that’s their whole thing,” he said.

“There’s also a big floating raft in the water.

“It’s 20ft off the beach, and there are couples who will go out there and bring a floaty cushion and put it on there.

“There was once a mermaid group that came in one year where the women would get dressed up in these long, slinky mermaid things with the fins and their partners would drag them around the sand and drag them into the water.

“They would flop around, and that’s not something you normally would see at your local pool.

“And then there are the ones who are into the domination type of thing, where you’ll have one of the partners – oftentimes, surprisingly, the male – on all fours with a dog collar being walked around by his wife or girlfriend.”

Versaggi, who retired 16 years ago from a senior role in IT, revealed how different groups set the status quo at Hedonism II – and today, there’s a gang of sex-mad fitness fanatics who post lists of their eye-popping sex classes.

They bring up to 400 people to the resort – with sex technique sessions for up to 50 at a time.

He said: “Public sex, while not officially approved, just happens. If you talk to other people who go there, they’ll often reference groups.

“This was a phenomenon that started maybe back in the late 90s, when Hedonism II had a Hedonism III on the other side of the island.

“Some of them were attached to lifestyle nudist clubs in the US or in Canada, others just collected a bunch of people and called them a group. So there was a very heavy group culture.

“Some of them were swingers who were much more inclined to have public and group sex.

“There is one lifestyle fitness group who are very health-conscious and sexually orientated.

“They posted a list of their activities, and one that caught my eye was a list of sexual techniques.

“That group would bring a total of around 350 to 400 people to the resort, and I would not be surprised if 50 of them would show up to a session like that.

“They’re there during the daytime, but sometimes you don’t know they’re there, because they can be split up into sessions like tantra massage or how to excite your partner.

“So there are always these different groups doing things in different places. The beach and the pool could be almost empty while there are 400 people there.”

He also added that many come to the venue with a secret identity, including Brits, with very wealthy people a common sight.

He added: “I know a lot of people whose names are not their real names.

“I’m me wherever I go, but there are people that I know there as Mike when they’re actually Joe, who happens to be a federal judge or a senator’s aide, something of that nature.

“They don’t want to be known. Then there are people who are extremely wealthy, but you would never know it.

“There is a large population of Brits, and some of my dearest friends stretching back 30 years are from the UK.”

Diane Lange, who has been an executive director at Hedonism II for 11 years, says the venue has regularly hosted celebrities, some thought to be household names.

Visitors who chatted online described seeing sportsmen, millionaires, and even Hollywood A-listers.

But she says the venue has a strict policy on keeping the identity of its guests a secret.

She told The Sun: “We have had some celebrities over the years. A-listers, although I can’t give any clues.

“We get people from all walks of life. We get a lot of professionals – we’ve had surgeons, pilots, you name it.

“It’s a place where they can escape from the real world and just be themselves.”
